Why your team avoids the life conversation

Oct 15, 2026

Your team believes in life insurance.

They know it matters.

They know families need it.

So why does it keep getting skipped?

Because nobody gave them a way in.

Here is what I see training teams across the country.

A rep can be great at auto.

Great at home.

Great at service.

Then life insurance comes up and the tone changes.

“How do I bring this up without making it weird?”

When a rep does not know how to bring it up, they avoid it.

Not because they do not care.

Because they do not have the words.

So give them the words.

Here is the easiest entry I teach.

The end of any service call.

“Before I let you go, can I ask you something real quick? A lot of people have their home and auto protected, but they have never really thought through what would happen financially if their income was no longer there. Out of curiosity, if something happened to you, what would your family’s plan be to keep everything paid for?”

That is not a pitch.

That is a question.

The difference is everything.

Here is what I would do this week.

1. Print the question.

Word for word.

One copy on every desk.

2. Practice it out loud.

Ten reps per team member before anyone uses it live.

It will feel stiff on rep one.

It will feel natural by rep ten.

3. Ask it once per day.

One service call per person.

Track the asks.

Here is the shift.

Your team does not need more product knowledge.

They need a way in.

Give them one question and the conversations start.

If you want your whole team trained on the full framework behind this question, that is what we do inside Ignite Agency Training.
